Of course the Prez’s wife has the legal right to go anywhere she pleases, for being an American citizen if nothing else.

But still, the notion is rapturously enticing, especially in light of the fact that Wilson turned out to be technically correct after all.

One poster hit the nail on the head. The Obama’s will not come back to SC over safety concerns but to punish Joe Wilson and Jim DeMint. It is nothing but political payback but Clyburn is too wrapped up in his racism to acknowledge anything else. He alluded to Wilson as racist, everything he makes a public comment on is related to race. He is truly a “one trick pony”.

Might be enbarrassing to you but he spoke the truth. As they say, if Hussein Obama’s mouth is moving, then he’s not speaking the truth.

Here’s a tip regarding debating over the internet (or anywhere else, for that matter): you do not win the point if all you do is make groundless, unprovable assertions and then repeat yourself when someone offers facts to refute your statements. In other words, your argument is filled with phail.

When you consider that primetime cable news shows are airing opposite network primetime entertainment programs, then the fact that the cable’s numbers are as high as they are is quite astounding.

Further, at least two of Fox’s primetime shows routinely have in excess of three million viewers. This is not insignificant, but if you’d like to delude yourself with the belief that it is, so be it.

For the record, Glenn Beck’s show at 5:00 PM eastern has gotten recent numbers of over 3 million viewers, which is about 40$ or more of network news, and it’s in a closer, more similar timeslot.

But, hey… why bother with facts when you can simply shout your assertion that only conservatives watch Fox News in order to soak in their own masturbatory juices. I’ve stated the facts; you’ve asserted your opinions. We’ll let everyone else decide whose comments are more valuable.

On the topic of Southern racism, as a purely anecdotal proof that it’s overstated in the “accepted wisdom,” there’s this observation of mine: I regularly see interracial couples in the South, regardless of where I’ve been. White girls with black men, and black girls with white men — both are pretty common in Knoxville, where I live, and were also common in Atlanta, where I lived ten years ago.

In contrast, when I lived in the Cincinnati area, I almost never saw interracial couples.

You can argue that my observation proves nothing, but I think it certainly illustrates a very important point: that Southerners aren’t nearly as racist — by and large — as they’re portrayed in the media.

But, again, if you’d like to restate your original premise for the third time, offering no actual proof other than your feelings or beliefs, go ahead. It won’t change anything, though…

In any event, let’s put this in perspective:

1. South Carolinians care very little what Yankees think, particularly those from Massachusetts. Point of fact that there are too many Massachusetts people here already, which seems to be strong evidence that Massachusetts is (and has been) a polluted, corrupt, mob-ridden shit hole. Just having to share a nation with Massachusetts people is grounds for secession under any reasonable constitution.

2. Jim Clyburn is not particularly bright, nor a particularly effective Congressman despite serving as the Majority Whip (I’m surprised the racist connotations of having a black man serve as the Whip didn’t send paroxysms of p.c. panic down the spine of every progressive weenie in the land]. Clyburn wouldn’t be elected dog catcher if he didn’t hold one of the most gerrymandered districts in the nation … which is fine with me, because it ensures that at least 4 of the other 5 congressmen from S.C. are conservatives.

3. I would bet you any amount of money the first lady doesn’t return Clyburn’s calls. Clyburn is a bomb-thrower and pork-hound. He is just angry that she dusted his bid to get her to come to Orangeburg, home of the HBCU South Carolina State. Having spent time in Orangeburg, I can’t hardly blame her.

4. Come 2010, Clyburn will return to his (much deserved) obscurity.

5. P.S. I don’t dislike Clyburn ‘cuz he’s black. I dislike him ‘cuz he is a typical, no good, diarrhea of the mouth Democrat who would undercut his state for a soundbite. Like Senator Graham …

6. P.P.S. If Joe Wilson’s “you lie” or Jim DeMint’s “Waterloo” (or, hell, Borat’s visit to the University of South Carolina) make you less likely to visit the Palmetto State, then God Bless You (or if you’re a typical Yankee atheist then Sky Daddy Piss on You) … there are too many damn Yankees here anyway and the people you’re mostly hurting live in the Sixth District by and large so WE DON’T CARE …
