The first commenter approves of Joe’s new gig, so I took a guess that he or she identifies with the right, but I don’t know for sure.

Are there idiots at both ends of the political spectrum and everywhere in between? Absolutely.

But tell me, what non-public figure on the left was on the receiving end of the kind of vitriol and abuse that Joe the Plumber experienced? The deranged left used extreme and even illegal methods to try to silence Joe Wurzelbacher and crush his participation in political discourse. That’s one of the reasons I’m delighted he has found another outlet for his opinions.

Certainly there are those on the right who go too far in wishing harm on people they disagree with, and I’d be the first to call them out if I encountered that kind of nonsense. But wishing death and physical pain to righties seems to be borderline mainstream on the left, and it’s become accepted practice on the big lefty blogs to wish all kinds of misery would befall public figures and private citizens on the right. Bush, Cheney, Palin, JTP: the depth and breadth of the unhinged derangement aimed at these folks is appalling.

I agree with you that I don’t get a warm fuzzy feeling when a reporter is harmed. But the misconception that you prefer to leave this type of ignorance/hatred/hostility to the far left tells me that the comment you were referring to was written by someone from the far right. There are idiots on both sides, its only when we can acknowledge their presence and keep them from sharp utensils that we may go forward as a community and country.

Joe is a no nonsense straight talker – I think he’ll do a great job reporting from Israel. I agree that the MSM correspondents often phone in a load of crap, but while I might wish they would lose their jobs, it doesn’t give me warm and fuzzy feeling to see one of them harmed. I prefer to leave that kind of hate and hostility to the far left.
